Dec 12, 2011

2011-12-11-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning December 11th 2011 in the 10:30 service.

Scripture: Matthew 26:31-35, 69-75; Luke 22:31-34; Romans 7:24

Topic: Endurance

- Crisis changes us into what God wants us to be, not for ourselves but for others
- We will face things we do not like that do come from God
- Catalytic converter metaphor; crisis acts as a catalyst to convert poisons in your life into something that will help your brother
- The more you suffer, the more compassion you will have for the suffering
- When crisis converts you, it will rid you of competition, arrogance...
- Peter denied, then wept bitterly at the realization of what he was really about
- We become battle weary, we go back and forth; Paul wrestled to do good...
- After battle a man has a surge of testosterone, makes him do stupid, dangerous things
- After a spiritual battle it is dangerous to let you guard down; you have a sense of arrogance, are tired, make bad decisions you may regret the rest of your life
- Without the catalyst of a crisis we let our guards down and end up weeping bitterly
- But Jesus didn’t give up on Peter; He already knew he would deny Him
