- Stephen’s account of Moses... killed a man to deliver another
(by his own hand)
- Peter cut off the ear of the servant of the high priest.
- We too feel like we must do something, that by our hand things
will be better
- Our life must be of prayer and dependent on God
- Moses wandering... the burning bush. God took his sword and
then his sandals; first impulse, then his ability to run and
hide
- We run off excited or in fear while we should stand still until
God finishes talking
- We have been impetuous, impulsive and have relied too little on
prayer
- We’ve pulled out the sword and used it when it should not have
been used
- We’ve run away afraid of what God was doing in our lives
- ... we pay for it for the rest of our lives
- Abraham, Sarah, Hagar... tried to do it on their own. The
Ishmaelites were born...
