- Why a sycamore tree?  Every word is important... Egyptian sycamore has a fruit that, at a certain stage, is pierced by a wasp and pollinated.  The fruit then releases a fluid and becomes sweet and edible.  Without the piercing the fruit is worthless.
- The fruit represented what was about to happen to Zacheus: Jesus came and pierced his hard heart with the truth so out of his life could come a testimony of saving grace
